摘要
On August 4, 2015, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade and the EU delegation in Vietnam jointly held a press conference to announce that they have completed the negotiations for the free trade agreement (FTA) in Hanoi, and a formal signing is to be expected at the end of 2015. Vietnam and the EU have started the FTA negotiations in June 2012, and after 14 rounds of negotiations, both sides announced yesterday to have reached an agreement in principle on free trade.
In 2014, the EU was Vietnam's second largest trading partner after Mainland China, with the exclusion of ASEAN internal trade, accounting for 10% of Vietnam's trade volume. The EU is Vietnam's second largest export destination (after the US), and accounted for 18% of Vietnam’s global exports. EU-Vietnam foreign commodities trade value in 2014 was worth more than Eur.28.2 billion, with Eur.22.1 billion of goods imported in the EU from Vietnam, and Eur.6.2 billion of goods exported to Vietnam.
