In 2018, the global semiconductor market was worth US$468.778 billion, an increase of 13.7% over 2017, when the market was worth US$412.221 billion. The main reasons for the increase was the growth in related artificial intelligence electronic products and the increase of intelligent applications in vehicles. In addition, memory prices remained high which led to continuous growth of the global semiconductor industry. In 2019, the global economy was affected by US-China trade conflict, which caused the market demand to contract, and the global semiconductor market to shrink. The industry is expected to decline by 7.0% in 2019. In the 2020 forecast, the trade disputes between the United States and China is expected to cool which would lead to a 5.8% growth in the global semiconductor market. The global semiconductor market is also expected to achieve an annual growth rate of 8.0% in 2021.
