The geographical environment of Taiwan is connected to that of Fujian, China; it therefore also bears a small amount of rare earth, monazite. However, because of economies of scale factors, related minerals mining operations have ceased. Taiwan's rare earth industry is mainly concentrated in downstream applications; it is estimated that Taiwan's demand for rare earths (converted to oxide) is approximately 2,600 tons, and the main source of imports are China and Japan....
