In the chemical industry, specialty chemicals are a group of chemicals known for their low usage of product’s volume, fine quality, complicated composition, unique applications, and high added-value. According to the Industry Production Statistics of Taiwan, the production value for specialty chemicals for the year 2009 is $NT 251,000 million. Because specialty chemicals are less affected by the economic cycle, the production value of the specialty chemicals accounts for 7.87% of the total production value of the chemical industry in 2009, a rise from 5% in 2005.
