Founded in 2010, TransportAPI is a comprehensive data service platform to provide public transportation information (including trains, tubes, buses and ferries) in the UK. The service integrates all the transportation data (such as timetables, fares, journal planning, real-time information on traffic accidents), in order to make it easy to use transport data from different sources in metropolitans. TransportAPI has less than 10 employees but over 1,500 customers (mainly app developers) and an annual turnover of more than £0.3 million. The commercial success of TransportAPI in data integration targeted at specific applications can serve as a lesson for Taiwanese companies.
