The total output value of Taiwan’s pharmaceutical industry during April-May 2016 was NT$10.91 billion, exhibiting a year-on-year growth of 1.7%, primarily driven by the output growth in pharmaceutical products. During this period, the output value of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) declined by 11.3%, as compared with the same period in 2015. It was estimated that June’s output would continue to decline, and that Q2 2016 would eventually register a decline of 15% compared with Q2 2015. In the same period, the output value of pharmaceutical products increased significantly by 10.8% as compared with 2015, and a year-on-year growth of 4.6% was estimated for Q2 2016.
