The article describes status and outlook of Taiwan’s wind power industry. Wind power has been aggressively promoted in Taiwan since 2000. By the end of October 2014, a total of 318 large scale onshore wind turbines had been erected to deliver total installed capacity (TIC) at 630MW.
The short-, medium- and long-term targets for wind power development in Taiwan are as follows: Completing the first demo offshore wind power system in 2015; Completing onshore wind farm development and accumulative offshore TIC at 320MW in 2020; and completing a total of 600 offshore wind turbines with TIC at 3GW in 2030.
