aiwan’s manufacturing industry is currently facing many critical challenges in its development. Fostering of a high value added manufacturing industry is the current most important industry development goal of the Taiwanese government. The benefits from a high value added manufacturing industry include increase in GDP and tax revenue, increase in company profits, stimulating the growth of employee wages, and supporting the sustainable development of the industry. From the cross-industry angle, IEK has proposed the following common technologies that can foster Taiwan’s high value added manufacturing industry: intelligent manufacturing (including intelligent sensors, Big data and IoT), industrial robotics, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and In- process/On-machine measurement. These are common advanced manufacturing technology domains that cover most of the critical manufacturing industry of Taiwan.
