Opportunities and Challenges for Development of Smart Machinery Industry in Taiwan

Government sectors of Taiwan have listed the development of smart machinery as one of the top five innovative R&D industries. Taichung municipal government also intends to develop Taichung city to become a smart machinery hub, based on existing network of precision machinery industry in central Taiwan. Hence, it could be expected that, the development of smart machinery industry will become the central policy of industrial development for Taiwan central and local governments. The following items are important development projects regarding smart machinery applied in the manufacturing field of Taiwan: Smart machine tools and professional production equipment, Industrial robots, Additive manufacturing equipment, Intelligent production system, Modules and components of smart machinery.
