According to Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), one of the divisions of the Institute for Information Industry (III), production value of the global IT hardware industry grew from USD 171.6 billion in 2019 to USD 185.2 billion in 2020, up 7.9% year-on-year. The COVID-19 outbreak has had a huge impact on the information industry worldwide as it has successively affected both supply and demand sides. This has plunged the global economy into recession. Despite the hardest hits on the economy, production value of the global IT hardware industry was benefited from the increasing stay-at-home demand in 2020 amid the pandemic, except desktop computers. Among them, notebook computers performed the best.
